NDG Baseball - Basics

The season normally begins during the second week of May (May 11th or 18th depending on the weather) and ends during the month of August (Saturday, August 23rd). There is also a two week break in mid-July for the regular season (House League) teams to allow players playing on both regular season (House League) teams and competitive teams the opportunity to focus on their respective provincial tournament teams. The two week break is implemented by all Quebec Little League teams.

For regular season (House League) teams, games take place in NDG at the following locations according to level:

Novice (Under 6 years Old): William Hurst Park - Saturdays,  10H00-12H00

          T-Ball (6-8 Year Olds): Loyola 2 & William Bowie - Mondays & Wednesdays,  18H30-20H15

          Minor (9-10 Year Olds): Loyola 2 & Macdonald - Tuesdays & Thursdays,  18H30- 20H15

          Major (11 & 12 Year Olds): Confederation & Macdonald - Mondays & Wednesdays, 18H30-20H15

          Junior (13 & 14 Year Olds): Loyola 1 - Tuesdays & Thursdays, 18H30-22H00 (Possible Double Headers)

          Senior (15 & 16 Year Olds): Loyola 1 - Tuesdays & Thursdays, 18H30-22H00 (Possible Double Headers)

          Big League (17 & 18 Year Olds): Loyola 1 - Mondays & Wednesdays,  19H30-22H00

(Loyola):  Loyola 1 - Doherty/ Somerled      Loyola 2 - Coronation/ Fielding

Competitive teams at the Junior level and below play their away games on the weekends. The Senior and Big League competitive teams are the only teams to play away games during the week (Monday-Thursday, 19H30-22H00).

How Much Does it Cost

Price of registration is derived from determining two factors:

      1) Which Division your child belongs based on the child's age as of April 30th

      2) Which Level (House League or Competitive) your child would like to play.

Competitive teams pay more than House League Teams given the amount of development they receive from the NDG Baseball Program.

The registration fees cover the costs of: the child's uniform (which they keep), equipment purchases, umpire fees, player insurance, year end awards and banquet, & team and individual photos. Competitive teams do not get to keep their team jersey or pants but get to keep their warm-up shirts.

House League and Competitive Programs

NDG Minor Baseball has baseball programs for recreational (including beginners), intermediate, and competitive players.

House League (Recreational Baseball)

The House League program represents the basis of our Little League Baseball program and it makes up the majority of our registrations during the year. This program allows children to play two games a week from mid-May through mid-August. There is a two week break period during the season which takes place during the last two weeks in July.

Intermediate Baseball (B-Team)

We also understand that some children's skills will develop throughout the season and as a result may feel unchallenged at the House League Level and may wish to play at an intermediate level. As a result, NDG Baseball has an intermediate competitive team called a B-Team for those children who play House League full time but who would like to further develop their skills by playing once or twice a month against more challenging teams plus participating in a  July Provincial Tournament against other Quebec based teams. The B-team concept only exists for the following divisions: T-Ball, Minor, Major, & Junior.

Competitive Baseball (A-Team)

NDG Minor Baseball has a very successful competitive program. In the past three years, NDG Lynx teams have gone onto three National Championships and are expected to do well again this year at all levels of play.

Competitive players and House League players who wish to improve their skills can practice throughout the winter months during our winter indoor sessions which are held on Sundays. If you wish to try out for the competitive team it is encouraged that you take part in the winter practice sessions.
