U16 MICHELIN TOURNAMENT

This tournament was created so that high calibre competitive teams can hone their skills for year end tournament play. Teams applying to this tournament will expect to play some of the best baseball teams in this part of the north-east.

The years tournament will be hosting four teams: (Quebec) NDG, Laval-Laurentides, (Ontario) Glebe, Carleton-Russell, Ottawa West, Ottawa Knights, & South Ottawa; (New York State) North Country Nationals

TOURNAMENT RULES

Home/Away                       Before each game a coin flip will determine the Home and Away

                                     teams.

 

Time Limit                    No new inning after 1hr50 minutes of play.

Mercy Rule                           A game is called, after 5 innings or, 4 ½ innings of play if the home team

                                                  is leading,  and there is a 10 run difference.

                                                  A half inning is complete when the defensive team has achieved 3 outs

                                                  OR when the offensive team scores 5 runs. When last inning is called,

                                                  there is no limit to the number of runs scored I the open inning.

Pitchers                                Round-Robin

                                                 A maximum of 3 innings per pitcher per game

                                                 Play-Offs

                                                 A maximum of 4 innings per game. A pitcher who pitches 4 innings in a

                                                 semi-final game, can not pitch in the Final Game

                                                 Pitch Count Rules will not apply for this tournament.

                                    NOTE: A pitch thrown in an inning by a pitcher constitutes an

                                    inning pitched

Batting Line-Up                 A continuous batting order. Everyone hits.

Bats                                        ONLY WOOD BATS WILL BE USED (as per agreement by teams)

Defence                               A player may enter or re-enter the field at anytime.

Pinch-Runners                No Pinch-Runners - Exception: two out, catcher on base or an injured base runner, the last out shall replace the base runner.

 

Rules Used to Determining the Top Four Teams During the Tournament

Teams will be placed Pools. All teams will three games. The team with the best record will move onto the semi-finals.

    WHAT IF TWO TEAMS ARE TIED AFTER THE ROUND-ROBIN

a) The team who had won during head-to-head competition will have the higher placement.

b) If no head-to-head competition took place, or they tied, the team with the least number of runs allowed will determine the higher placement.

c) If b) does not determine a higher placement, the team with the higher number of runs scored will determine the higher placement.

d) if c) does not determine the higher placement, teams will draw from a hat as to which team has the higher placement. 

    WHAT IF THREE OR MORE TEAMS ARE TIED AFTER THE ROUND-ROBIN

a) The team who had won each of their games against the other teams will have the higher placement.

b) If a) does not determine the higher placement, the team with the least number of runs allowed will determine the higher placement.

c) If b) does not determine a higher placement, the team with the higher number of runs scored will determine the higher placement.

d) if c) does not determine the higher placement, teams will draw from a hat as to which team has the higher placement.
