The Junior Lynx beat their Quebec rival Valleyfield 4-3 in a very intense match last night. Head coach Mike Latsis stated that Valleyfield had about fifty supporters for their team and at times it turned pretty ugly. In one particular incident when Valleyfield didn't like an umpires call, one of the parents ran to the fence and threatened to break the umpires legs (brings back memories). In another incident in the fifth inning with NDG up 4-3, Valleyfield stopped the game and complained that NDG bats were illegal. After a long conversion the tournament director told them to stop complaining and play ball.

NDG baseball should be very proud that the Junior Lynx will move onto Coquitlam, BC to represent Quebec at the Canadian Nationals. These are a very good group of kids who will represent Quebec with class and good sportsmanship. Congratulations to coaches Mike Latsis and Sheldon Morgan, team manager Patrick Raftus, and the Junior Lynx squad on your hard fought win and your determination in a year full of obstacles. Your team is a true inspiration.

NDG ROUND-ROBIN GAME SUMMARY

Game 1 - NDG 22  vs Val d'Or  1

Five NDG pitchers (Jackson Morgan, Jonathan Raftus, Sean Griffin, Alex Latsis, and Oliver Singson) combined to pitch five innings of no-hit baseball.

Game 2 - NDG 11  vs  Brossard  1

Again, head coach Mike Latsis used five pitchers so as to have available all players to pitch in NDG's next game against Valleyfield.

Game 3 - Valleyfield 6 vs  NDG  3

Valleyfield scored four runs in the second inning on two errors. NDG came back to make it 4-3 but Valleyfield scored two more in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach. Head coach Mike Latsis indicated that he feels pretty good about things in general because he knows the Lynx let the game get away from them and that they have beaten Valleyfield twice this year. Right now he has a semi-final game to plan for against St-Constant.
