2015 & 2014 - Outstanding Coaching Staff of the Year

After three years of hard work all year round Frank Martinez has led his team to a World Series tournament. This U13 Little League team had a stupendous year. The Intermediate Lynx won six tournaments including the Intermediate Canadian National Tournament, which took place in Saint John, New Brunswick, where the team went 7-0. The team also outscored the competition 105 to 21.

At the World Series in Livermore California, the Lynx would finish the double-knock-out tournament with a 1-2 record but easily could have won more games if not for some first-time World Series jitters.

During the year Head Coach Frank Martinez seemed to give all his free time in the effort to give his team a solid chance to win the Little League National Championship. After all the work the team had put in during the year they were probably the best U12 team in Quebec in all leagues.

In the round-robin part of the Nationals the NDG Lynx (team Quebec) would finish 4-2 which meant they would face Ontario who was 6-0 in the semi-final. In the semi-final team Quebec was hitless through three innings of play but would score six runs in two innings to come within one run of team Ontario going into he bottom of the sixth. While team Quebec was able to get men on base they were unable to bring them home however what a finish to an exciting semi-final

For Little League U12 team, it was a phenomenal year. After struggling through the month of June to find some rhythm. The coaching staff shifted gears one month before the provincial tournament that proved to produce amazing results for team as whole. Going into the Quebec Little League Provincials in Drummondville, with the home team the favorite, the NDG Little League Lynx were able go undefeated through the tournament defeating Drummondville twice.

At the Canadian Nationals, they held there own finishing in fourth place and moving onto the semi-finals but losing to B.C.

The same team also played in the Baseball Quebec  play-downs in August after the Little League Nationals and won both the Regional and Provincial Pee Wee A titles. A feat not done since 1994 when Russell Martin played NDG Baseball.

FRANK MARTINEZ - Little League U12 (Head Coach)

Frank could be best described as a Little Leaguer in a man's body. Frank has a spirit for the game of baseball that is very contagious. There is no one in the NDG Baseball organization who works as hard for the sake of the kids and their personal development more than Frank Martinez. His motto to his players is, "Between the lines we are competitors but off the field we are friends". In the fifteen years I have been involved in Little League baseball, Frank is probably the only coach who I have seen who continually lives up to the Little League motto and continuously promotes it every day of his life. He truly is a great ambassador for the sport of baseball.
